We are excited to announce that we have added Mandarin Chinese to our list of languages we work with. Every time we add a new language, we open up our services to new communities.
Around 10,000 people from China seek asylum in the United States every year, making up about 10% of all asylum applications. In order for an asylum claim to be approved, the applicant must prove that they are being persecuted on account of race, religion, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion. Our job as translators is to convey the applicant’s story through accurate translations of their statement and the supporting documents to back it up. We are thrilled to now be able to do this crucial work in Chinese.
With help from individual donors we will continue to expand our language capabilities and provide free translations to people fleeing danger and oppression. What we do is pretty simple, but the need is great and becoming greater. Please join us in our mission by helping us reach our Opening Our Borders and Our Hearts campaign fundraising goal!
