8 Humanitarian Parole Victories!

100% of the Title 42 exemption humanitarian parole cases we worked on with the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) this spring were successful! We translated evidence needed to show U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials that IRAP’s asylum-seeking clients from Honduras, Mexico, Chile, and Haiti were in vulnerable, and sometimes dangerous situations in Mexico, and needed Title 42 exemptions. Title 42 is the Trump-era expulsion policy designed to keep out asylum seekers at the border under the pretext of Covid.

Individuals can receive an exemption for humanitarian reasons and get paroled into the US. Humanitarian parole allows an individual who may be inadmissible or otherwise ineligible for admission into the US to stay in the US for a temporary period of time for urgent humanitarian reasons. These clients are now all safe in the United States and have reunited with their family and friends.
